What started as a request to move a single modified 40ft container quickly turned into a larger project involving multiple items:
- A 40ft container (storage/workshop unit)
- A 20ft container
- A 12m x 3m portable building
- A mobile office (tiny home style)

The Challenge: Multiple Units, Limited Access
Moving a 40ft container is a straightforward job with the right equipment — in this case, a SideLoader trailer. However, the terrain at the pickup site was not an established industrial yard, which added difficulty. Off-road relocations are nothing new for us, and our team was able to handle the uneven ground safely and efficiently.
The job became more complex when we learned about the additional portable building and tiny office. With our SuperTilt trailer unavailable, we had to carefully plan the relocation using a combination of our SideLoader, crane trucks, and heavy haulage tow truck.
The Solution: Using the Right Equipment for Each Task
- 40ft Container: Moved using our SideLoader. Despite the tricky ground, we loaded and transported it securely. At the destination, we unloaded it with the SideLoader, then later repositioned it with a crane to suit the site layout.
- 20ft Container & Tiny Office: Relocated using our crane truck, allowing precise loading and unloading.
- 12×3 Portable Building: With the SuperTilt unavailable, we used the SideLoader in combination with a crane to safely load and transport this oversized structure.
- Final Positioning: Limited access at the Williamstown site meant the portable office couldn’t be craned directly into place. Instead, we used our heavy haulage tow truck with a 20-ton winch, assisted by a crane truck, to carefully winch the building into its final position.
