The Job: Moving a 19ft Expandable Home
Our partners at RedTow were recently on site at a pre-fabricated home display yard in Carrum Downs, where we were tasked with transporting a 19ft expandable home (similar to a tiny home) to its new owner in Lovely Banks near Geelong.
Because these portable homes arrive inside standard 20ft shipping containers, they’re slightly smaller than a 20ft container once unfolded. This makes them compact, but still heavy and bulky enough to require specialised transport.
Step One: Safe Loading
Loading was completed with the help of an 8-tonne forklift, which carefully lifted the 19ft unit onto RedTow’s large crane truck. To ensure the home was secured for transport:
- We used twist locks to lock the unit firmly to the truck bed.
- Added two heavy-duty tie-down straps for extra security during the journey.
This attention to detail ensures that every portable home arrives safely, no matter the distance.
Step Two: Crane Truck Delivery
